Great post Joe, and this aligns with everyone I spoke to. That included media, fans, riders and staff. Everyone was super positive on the event. Next year they'll need to work around UCI Super Worlds in France, so it may be a week earlier.
Great point Peter, and I do love a Super Worlds! That's a shame the date will have to move. Knowing a thing or two about race logistics for teams//pros, the easiest way to entice talent to your event is to put it back-to-back with somewhere they're going anyway.
Hi Joe. Great piece. On the calendar point you made, the slot you’re thinking of was supposed to be taken up by the Maryland Cycling Classic, which took place last year, but not this year, due to organizational difficulties. If the MCC had taken place, it would have made for a great four week block of racing leading up to Worlds.
Of course. Interestingly, Maryland didn’t have the same cultural impact as Philly. I think for MCC to work it would have to be a weekend double-header (Friday-Sunday) with Philly. Similar to how Montreal and Quebec usually work. Then, you’re only asking teams to travel for two weekends. This is in a normal, non-Worlds year!
